…ALTERNATING BETWEEN EXTREMES AND ENGAGING IN ALL-OR-NOTHING BEHAVIOURS WHEN IT COMES TO FOOD & MOVEMENT THAT INVOLVE STRICT DISCIPLINE FOLLOWED BY REBELLION, FOLLOWED BY SELF-CRITICISM AND CIRCLING BACK TO THE BEGINNING.

There is a reason this happens

OUR ‘SELF’ IS NOT SIGNLE AND ONE-SIDED.

Rather, our psyche is made up of a number of inner parts/aspects or archetypes, which unconsciously drive our actions and decisions. The Child, Parent and Adult are three of the most significant ones. Each of those parts has their own needs and desires, their own ‘agendas’, and that, very often, results in inner conflict and dissonance.

None of those parts are better than the others. They are all valuable, essential and wise. We need them all to be healthy and whole. However, for different reasons, which have to do with our upbringing and life experiences, some parts develop more than others and take dominance over our personality. This inner imbalance lies at the core of many of the difficulties and unhelpful patterns we encounter in our lives.

We are not one thing, nor should we try to be.

WHAT WE REALLY NEED TO DO IS LEARN HOW TO LISTEN.
COMMUNICATE. AND COOPERATE WITH OUR DIFFERENT SELVES.

BUILDING A RELATIONSHIP WITH THESE PARTS AND BRIDGING OUR INNER POLARITIES IS THE KEY TO STEPPING OUT OF THE VICIOUS CYCLE, AND CULTIVATING INNER COHERENCE, ALIGNMENT AND PEACE IN OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH FOOD, BODY AND SELF.

The Child-Parent-Adult Model has been one of the core tools and lenses in my 1:1 work supporting people who experience food & body difficulties over the past decade.

THAT IS BECAUSE IT IS ENLIGHTENING AND PROFOUND.

This model originally comes from a school of psychotherapy called Transactional Analysis, but different manifestations of it can be found in many approaches, including Internal Family Systems, Gestalt Therapy and Jungian/Archetypal Psychology.

In this course, I am presenting a version of this model as it has evolved and been shaped through my own experience and private practice.
